Security & privacyFor HR heads and finance

What happens to your people’s data.

Running payroll means holding Aadhaar numbers, PAN, bank accounts and salaries for everyone you employ. Below is how synkd stores and protects them, in plain terms.

01

Where is our data kept?

In India. synkd stores your organisation’s data in the AWS Mumbai region.

Mumbai

AWS region · India

02

Who can see Aadhaar, PAN and bank numbers?

Only the people whose role needs them. These numbers are encrypted when stored, and shown masked to everyone else, so a manager approving leave never sees a team member’s bank account.

Shown to a role that doesn’t need the number

Aadhaar
XXXX XXXX 4821
PAN
XXXXX1234X
Bank account
XXXXXXXX7712
03

Could another company see our records?

No. Every organisation’s data is isolated at the database level, so one company’s records are kept apart from every other company’s in the storage itself, not only in the screens.

04

How are administrator accounts protected?

Platform administrators sign in in two steps: their password, then a code from an authenticator app on their phone. A stolen password on its own is not enough.

05

If a salary changes, will we know who changed it?

Yes. The audit log records who changed what, and it cannot be edited after the fact. It is part of the Enterprise plan.

Audit log
  • 29 Jun 17:42Kavya Iyer changed the salary structure for Imran Shaikh
  • 30 Jun 18:05Nikhil Rane finalised June payroll
  • 30 Jun 18:06Nikhil Rane published 140 payslips
06

What happens when someone leaves?

synkd is built for India’s Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act. After someone leaves, their personal data can be erased, while the statutory records you are required to keep stay in place.
